Ezra
Silicone, hair, plaster, clay, and video. 2023
Ezra is a multi-media work inspired by my partner and I discussing having children. It has brought up several questions involving race and identity, our own health and mental state, family, and schooling. The gray monochromatic palette references 3D printing, 3D scanning, and AI robot aesthetics because I feel it best represents an imagined "virtual" space. It also references the default material in 3D programs prior to adding texture, lighting, and set objects, which in this case, represent the environmental factors that may affect an individual. For me, it has been a deep reflection of what kind of dad I will be.
